Analysis

NAICS 441210 is the 2022 national industry for recreational vehicle dealers, part of 44121 (Recreational Vehicle Dealers). Census lists 8 example activities under it in the official index.

County Business Patterns counts 2,972 US establishments in this code in 2023, employing 58,913 people at an average annual payroll of $65,410 per employee (44th percentile of national industries). 28% of the establishments have fewer than five employees, which is close to the national mix.

Between 2018 and 2023 the number of establishments grew 10% and employment rose 23%. The 2018 count used NAICS 2017, so part of a large move can come from codes being redefined rather than from businesses opening or closing.

Its index entries, the activities Census uses to assign businesses to this code, include camper dealers, recreational, camper parts and accessories stores, motor home dealers and recreational vehicle (RV) dealers, among 8 in all.

For example, retailing new or used boat trailers and utility trailers are classified in 44122 (Motorcycle, Boat, and Other Motor Vehicle Dealers) instead.

Census lists 2 related activities that belong elsewhere, most often in 44122 and 459930. Businesses that do several things are classified by their primary activity, the one that generates the most value, so check those boundaries before settling on this code.
