Promoters of Performing Arts, Sports, and Similar Events without Facilities
Analysis
NAICS 711320 is the 2022 national industry for promoters of performing arts, sports, and similar events without facilities, part of 71132 (Promoters of Performing Arts, Sports, and Similar Events without Facilities). Census lists 80 example activities under it in the official index.
Census lists 7 related activities that belong elsewhere, most often in 512199, 7111, 711212 and 711211. Businesses that do several things are classified by their primary activity, the one that generates the most value, so check those boundaries before settling on this code.
County Business Patterns counts 5,031 US establishments in this code in 2023, employing 39,605 people at an average annual payroll of $69,162 per employee (51st percentile of national industries). 74% of the establishments have fewer than five employees, which marks it as a small-business industry.
Between 2018 and 2023 the number of establishments grew 10% and employment rose 7%. The 2018 count used NAICS 2017, so part of a large move can come from codes being redefined rather than from businesses opening or closing.
Its index entries, the activities Census uses to assign businesses to this code, include agricultural fair managers without facilities, agricultural fair organizers without facilities, agricultural fair promoters without facilities and air show managers without facilities, among 80 in all.
For example, booking motion pictures or videos are classified in 512199 (Other Motion Picture and Video Industries) instead.
